Description

Same canoë trip than thé half day trip on Leyre but a compagnie by a professionnal canoë guide bring there for your safety. 

All trip long, You'll learn how to paddle to avoid troncs, trees and branches, every where on Leyre. 

We are limited by 15 pers. per guide.

- Handling : signing of contracts, any payments, allocation of equipment, etc. 

 

- Shuttle : depending on the number of participants, either you leave your vehicle with us and we take you to the starting point, or you follow us to the starting point and we return the drivers to the vehicles after the activity. 

 

- Briefing : 10 to 25 minutes depending on your level and knowledge of the environment.  

Topics covered : positions on the boat, paddle use, steering techniques, safety and environmental rules, information on places of interest at landing sites. 

 

- Descent : You will embark at the Saugnac bridge for a 15 km descent of the Leyre accompanied by a guide. For almost 11 km, you'll be immersed in the lush greenery of the Leyre and its gallery forest. During this descent, you'll benefit from the guide's expertise in helping you discover the ecosystem, if you wish, and he'll help you over any tricky obstacles. Only the Passage bridge, at km 11, will let you know that you're only 3 km from the finish. 

- Arrival : At the base, you'll disembark on the left bank, and after a short equipment rinse, we'll load the boats onto the trailers. Depending on the situation, we'll either take the drivers back to the cars while you enjoy the sandy beach on the right bank, or your vehicles will already be there.

Included

- boat (canoe or kayak) 

- 1 watertight can per boat, 

- 1 buoyancy aid (must be worn), 

- Choice of double or single paddles,  

- Pre-start briefing on the course and safety rules, 

- Explanation of boat handling at departure point, 

- Return transportation.

- The services of a canoe/kayak instructor to supervise the group.

Good to know

Please note that if you book online, you will receive a total of 3 e-mails (one of which will arrive at a later date, detailing logistical arrangements). Be sure to open the last one to access the final confirmation.

 

Safety :   

- know how to swim and be over 6 years of age (there are no exceptions, even for children accompanied by their parents), in accordance with the decree of May 4, 1995   

- keep your shoes closed throughout the descent,   

- keep your lifejacket with you,   

- do not dive or jump hastily from the boat.      

 

Nature :    

- Respect the flora and fauna (the Leyre is a protected river in the Landes de Gascogne Regional Nature Park),   

- don't throw anything in the water or on the banks (if necessary, we'll provide garbage bags),   

- do not make fires,  

- respect other river users (fishermen, local residents, other paddlers...).   

 

Don't forget, the Leyre is part of the Landes de Gascogne Regional Nature Park, a place to be preserved and protected; so all forms of nuisance are to be avoided (including noise pollution).

 

Equipment required (not supplied):   

- old closed shoes, river or surf slippers or sandals,  

- quick-drying clothing that doesn't retain too much water,   

- a change of clothes,  

- windbreaker,   

- a hat or cap, and sunscreen for sunnier days,   

- mosquito repellent,   

- water.
